For communities, that’s not a cosmetic difference. Instead of hunting for a new contractor to patch potholes every year, the region is locking in a long-term contract through June 2028. And for carriers, farmers exporting grain, and even military logistics, it means one thing: a highway should not turn into an obstacle course in the middle of winter just because the repair budget ran out in December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And right now this question is anything but rhetorical. The roads in question are not secondary access routes to villages, but transit arteries that carry trucks, buses and equipment between several regions every single day. Any pothole or washed-out shoulder here is not a local inconvenience but a delay for the entire logistics chain, from a farm producer to a business waiting for materials or equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What matters most here is not the sum itself, but the planning horizon. A long-term contract of nearly two years, instead of annual patch-up tenders, gives the contractor an incentive to invest in equipment and people ahead of time, rather than spending resources on emergency repairs on the eve of every winter. For a region through which logistics for three neighboring regions pass every day, that’s the difference between a road that merely exists on a map and one that can actually withstand the load.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Poltava region is not an exception here: similar long-term tenders for maintaining roads of national significance are gradually becoming the norm in other regions of Ukraine too.
